Battle of Britian

Wednesday, June 9, 2010 by pete284

A while ago David Child-Dennis sent me a nice set of Rules for the Battle of Britain. They were quite popular with over 300 downloads.

Today he sent me an updated version of the rules in one PDF. They are very nicely produced too.

Napoleonic - Flames of War style

Tuesday, June 8, 2010 by pete284

I have seen many variants of rules over the years, from the simple Crossfire versions taking it to Vietnam era, many variants of warmaster taking it from historical up to the cold war and beyond. But is is unusual for a modern set of rules to be taken back to the horse and musket period.

That’s exactly what happened when I was sent The Thin Red Line by Chris Gavin. They have also provided an Army List.

Alot of work has gone into the rules and if you are a fan of FOW or Napoleonics they are worth a look.

Both sets of documents are in the new Microsoft Word docx format. If you don’t have the new version of word there are 2 alternatives OpenOffice which is my default Office application and its free. Secondly download the files and upload to Zamzar and convert to a format you can handle, I suggest PDF.

D10 Yom Kippur Rules

Monday, April 12, 2010 by pete284

Here finally are the D10 rules for the 1973 Yom Kippur war. The reason for the delay that halfway through writing them I was thinking of other rules to use for this period. Anyway here they are completed.

I will be porting some scenarios across from a few of my favourite boardgames for this period soon.

Dungeon World

Thursday, April 8, 2010 by pete284

Stephen Gilbert has sent me the second edition of his Dungeon World rules. Details of the rules are:

These rules are for fantasy skirmish war gamers who like the idea of taking up table top gaming, but lack either the space to play a larger scale game, or who are reluctant to spend a king`s ransom collecting 28mm heroes and monsters. Larger scale dungeon games tend to look rather flat and slightly abstract, unless the collector is prepared to put in a vast amount of time and energy to make the game stand out above the norm. Well, with 10mm miniatures you can not only play highly satisfactory skirmish games on the size of a small coffee table, but you can also buy your entire resin dungeon and a complete collection of miniatures for far less money than it might normally cost you to purchase even one fantasy army using the larger scale miniatures made by most mainstream game companies.
